Mrs Agbabiaka-Mustapha bagged her bachelor degree(B.A.) in Islamic Studies from the Lagos State University (LASU) in 1994.She served as a youth corp under the NYSC Scheme with the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) Minna, Niger State as the Administrative Secretary from 1994 to 1995.She bagged (MA) degree in Islamic Studies from the University of Ibadan in 2000.She later bagged her PGDE in 2006 from the same University. In the year 2015, Mrs Agbabiaka-Mustapha bagged another Master degree (MED) in Curriculum and Instructions from University of Ibadan. Mrs Agbabiaka-Mustapha, is currently a Principal Lecturer in the Department of Islamic Studies, Michael Otedola College of Primary Education. Mrs Agbabiaka-Mustapha has about (18) years of experience in classroom.

    • ABOUT MOCPED ISLAMIC STUDIES

      The Department of Islamic Studies was established in the year 1995, the second year of the establishment of the College, with only one Lecturer (Miss. Idowu, O.I).

      HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

      The Department of Islamic Studies was established in the year 1995, the second year of the establishment of the College, with only one Lecturer (Miss. Idowu, O.I). The Department commenced her academic programmes the same year with the pre-N.C.E programme. There were some memorable developments in the Department among which was the introduction of the Arabic Programme into the College in 1999. This was the handiwork of all the lecturers of Islamic Studies Department under the leadership of Dr. S.A. Popoola the then H.O.D. The Arabic Department, baby of Islamic Studies Department was nurtured for almost a year in the school of Arts and Social Sciences before it was transferred to the School of Languages. Today, many of the graduates of the Islamic Studies Department are hot cakes in different organizations in Lagos State and beyond and one is now a lecturer in the department.

      PHILOSOPHY

      Islam is a comprehensive religion that pervades all aspects of man’s life be it faith and practical living. For Muslim to conduct his personal and social life in accordance with the tenets of Islam, he needs to acquire an in-depth knowledge of Islam, Islamic Studies at the NCE level, therefore, is directed towards the development of a balanced personality i.e. socially accommodating, intellectually alert, morally sound and spiritually dedicated to the cause of Allah. Religiously, it is focused towards the achievement of social solidarity, ethical harmony, human equality and brotherhood in the society, particularly, the Nigerian society.

      OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

      1. To acquaint the students with the broad outlines in Islam.
      2. To prepare the students to understand Islam as a culture and civilization.
      3. To provide high quality training to enable the graduates make rigorous and scholarly approach to the contemporary problems of the Muslim Community with spirit of God consciousness and lead them to appreciate and uphold the values and teaching of Islam and live by it.
      4. To adequately prepare students to teach at Primary and Junior Secondary Schools.
      5. To give the students adequate intellectual exposure that will enable them pursue further education in Islamic Studies particularly at the B.A (Ed). Degree level.
